Ryan Harper is a doctoral student in Princeton University's Department of Religion, where he is completing an ethnography of contemporary southern gospel music. He currently teaches courses on American Religion and Religion in Popular Music at Swarthmore College. Ryan's recent poems and essays have appeared in Sugar House Review, Religion Dispatches, The Other Journal, Potomac Review, Ruminate, and elsewhere. Ryan is an avid distance runner, accomplished jazz drummer, lover of the outdoors, and militantly proud southpaw. He lives in New Jersey with his spouse, writer and chaplain Lynn Casteel Harper.
